Media School students to travel to Mexico City, broadcast IU soccer’s spring break set

Instead of seeking extra slumber or a week without study, four Media School students worked on an international level during the spring break of a lifetime.

The quartet journeyed to Mexico City this past week to chronicle the IU men’s soccer team’s two game stint, with 1-0 wins against the Cruz Azul U-20 club team and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), home of IU’s Mexico Gateway.

“Since IU has opened their gateway to Mexico, this is an opportunity to integrate things for other roles by popularizing what the university can do,” said associate professor and NSJC director Galen Clavio, who led the students on the trip. “You can go and cover this (from) different angles.”

Seniors Joshua Eastern, Juan Diego Alvarado and Eddie Cotton, and junior Michael Ramirez provided audio, video, and written coverage about the games, as well as the team’s cultural experiences.
