Media School students contribute to Super Bowl LIII broadcast

The world’s biggest game, powered by IU’s finest.

A handful of individuals from the Media School earned the honor to work for CBS’ production of Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3 in Atlanta.

Senior Christian Luna, junior Lauren Bernstein, master’s student Morgan Gard, junior Matthew Urasaki, senior Tyler Sorg, and Kimberly Cozzolino, BA’18, spent the “Big Game” as production runners for CBS’ broadcast of the NFL’s marquee event.

Gard, a second-year master’s student, used the opportunity to aid directors and producers, help with talent, move props and assemble sets.

“This whole experience has been eye-opening to what the world of TV is like,” she said. “It’s not like a studio where you can redo everything — it’s live! So if you mess up, you have to cut your losses and move on.”
