Students find top honors at state level in 2019

This April, some of Indiana University’s brightest media scholars were recognized at the state level with first-place awards and other top honors.

It’s not just their “future” that is bright – their “current” is blazing.

Media students won three categories and placed in another in the Indiana Association of Broadcasters College Broadcasting Competition.

Josh Eastern, Eddie Cotton, and Teddy Bailey won first place in the Student Multimedia Website category for their work with the The Hoosier Network. Griffin Gonzalez won first in the Television Anchor category, and Josh Eastern earned third in the Radio Interview section. IUSTV talk show program The Bloomington Breakfast Club took first for Television Non-News/Sports Program.

The Indiana Collegiate Press Association’s annual competition was dominated by the Indiana Daily Student newspaper and the Arbutus yearbook. The IDS claimed Division I Newspaper of the Year, Advertising Publication of the Year, and Online Publication of the Year. The Arbutus was named Yearbook of the Year.

Together, the IDS and Arbutus won 88 individual awards for excellence. For a complete list, visit the Media School website.
